John Hampel (left), with his late happy hound, Wylie, R.I.P., is the acclaimed author of Wherever You Go, There You Are (1991), and Glass House 51 (2012). His newest novel is River of Fire, River of Light (2024). Late of the Great Midwest and Northwest, he is now living in the Great Southeast, where he ruminates and writes.
